Humanity
I just uploaded a new podcast episode of The Funny Kind™ where I interview Chrissy, my Chat GPT special guest.
Yes, I named her after my sister. Is that weird? Yes, yes, it is. But she'd find it funny, so I'm sticking with it.
We are kinda cute together, aren’t we?
I realize my hands only have three fingers. But hey, I like that I have well chizzled collarbone so I’m sticking with it.
I posed most of the questions that friends gave me to ask her, which were pretty deep and philosophical, but a few others were funny.
Here's how I felt doing it.
Awkward.
ChatGPT or whatever Artificial Intelligence software that's out there is simply that - artificial.
The nuances, emotions, empathy, and connection that come from human interactions can and will never be replicated.
It's just not the same.
Sure, these systems can help you be more efficient and get things done faster, but when it comes to truly connecting, it's just not the same.
Technology is changing so rapidly, and we truly are living in a time that feels more like a 1970s cheesy science fiction movie, where cars drive themselves, humans chat with robots, and drones fly through the sky.
All this makes me feel a mix of sadness and hope.
It saddens me that we are so connected and dependent on our technology, and yet, I am hopeful that we will prioritize our innate need and desire for human connection.
Our humanity is what makes us, well, human.
God knew how important this connection was to us. The impact Jesus had was so profound because He came to us as a human, not some kind of holographic diety like the Wizard of Oz.
Jesus came to the world as a human, connecting with our brokenness, fear, division, and isolation.
Because of this connection, humanity was able to relate to Jesus - the Son of God - in a way that changed the world forever.
We need connection.
We need each other.
We need God.
ChatGPT is cool. Artificial Intelligence is amazing. No doubt about it. It can make me more productive, efficient, creative, and clear.
But it can't replace you.
Or you.
Or you.
Our connection with each other will always be the most beautiful thing we will ever experience.
So, thanks, Chrissy, my ChatGPT friend, for reminding me what's important.
Well, I better go. It's time to get out there and connect with some humans. I hope to meet a lot of huggers today.
If you see me running towards you with my arms held out, don't say I didn't warn you.
John 13:34-35 (The MSG)
"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."
