Sunday Supplications
With all that is happening in the world around us, it is so easy to fall into despair and fear.
But that kind of energy isn’t going to help anyone or anything.
Will you join me in an “Even Though” prayer today?
Dear Lord,
We come to You this morning not with a list of requests and pleadings but with humble hearts of gratitude knowing that, even though (insert whatever is heavy on your heart), there is so much to be grateful for.
Help us to pause and remember all You have done.
You have given us so much already. We are living lives we used to dream of.
Forgive us for forgetting that we are walking in the miracle we prayed for.
Forgive us for forgetting the miraculous life of Jesus who died for us and transformed sin into resurrection and redemption.
Forgive our memory loss of who You are and all You have done.
You have answered countless prayers and shown us many miracles, yet our greedy hearts only want more.
When we are in the first moments of the bliss of your blessings, we feel a renewed focus on living a life worthy of answered prayers.
But soon, we slip into our selfish and insatiable desires of only wanting more.
Lord, help us stay aware of how blessed we are now.
We have all we need and more.
Thank you for our families and friends who love and support us. We pray for your unconditional love and protection to surround them.
Thank you for the blessings you have given us. Please help us be aware of them and share what we have with others in ways that glorify you.
Let us be mindful to stand in the storms with others and share Your stories of redemption that can bring hope and light to others.
Thank you for the lessons and comfort you provide in life's sufferings so we realize our desperate need for you. Thank you for teaching us and showing us the way to you.
Help us to remember that even though darkness abounds, your light outshines it. Help us to be your light in the darkness.
God, you are good, and even in the mad world we find ourselves in, we know that you are still with us, leading us and guiding us to a bright way forward, even if we only see a tiny glimmer in the darkness.
Help us to never take you and your unconditional love and goodness for granted.
Help us to live in “Even though, look What God did” lives.
Amen
Hebrews 13: 15-16
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Colossians 2: 6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
