Watch for Signs
I went for a little walk yesterday and came across two signs that seemed to be sending me some kind of message from the great beyond.
Or maybe not.
Perhaps they were simply signs some wise citizen posted due to prior incidents requiring said warnings.
Either way, they spoke to me.
Please allow me to share these nuggets of wisdom with you:
Do Not Back Into Pit.
First of all, don't ask me why the letters o and n are crossed off in the first two words. Maybe I'm missing something. “Dot back into pit” doesn’t really resonate.
Anyhoo. Don't back into the pit. Good advice.
I wish I would have seen that sign before.
I've backed into my old nasty pit so many times I can’t keep count.
Heck, I've jumped back in if I'm being honest.
No more, though.
I got my eyes laser-focused on the pit-free path ahead.
Because, hey, if you aren't going forward, you may be going backward unknowingly. And, before you know it, you may find yourself back in the pit you fought so hard to get out of.
Keep moving forward.
Wisdom dropped. Wisdom picked up. Got it.
As far as the garage access goes, I'll leave that part up to you. Perhaps this has some deep meaning about being able to experience distant adventures and getting out of the way.
I've only had one cup of coffee, that might be too much of a stretch, even for me.
Slow. Blind Corner. Proceed with Caution.
You know you don't want to go back, that's obvious.
But here you are, moving forward, unsure where you are going or what's lurking around the next corner.
Don't panic.
Don't rush.
Don't speed ahead without looking both ways.
Don't ask for too much advice from others who are avoiding their own backward-pit-falling and wandering towards blind corners.
Don’t worse-case-scenario.
Don’t overthink and idle until you get woozy from the fumes.
God is with you. Holding your hand. Guiding you.
He's next to you but also ahead of you. He's multi-directional like that.
Don't let go of His hand.
Keep your eyes forward, on Him.
Keep your ears tuned to His voice.
Keep your heart and spirit connected to his hope and love.
And make sure you watch for His signs.
Just one more thing. If you see the signs, please don't draw on them. It confuses me and defeats the purpose of a good message.
Here we go, following forward together.
See you out there my pit-free pals!
Philippians 3: 12-13
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.
