Layover

I'm a nonstop type of traveler.

When I want to get somewhere, I want to get there as fast as possible.

That's how I am with most things, I suppose, not just when traveling.

When I know where to go, I want to get there as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, that's not how most things in life go (I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately).

Sometimes, we encounter a long layover on our journey to get where we are going.

I know we want to reach our destination - the accomplished goal, the resolved problem, the answered prayer.

But, as most frazzled parents would say to their whining children in the backseat, we will get there when we get there.

Until then, perhaps this layover might do us some good.

Layovers can give us the rest and rejuvenation we need to continue on our journey forward.

During this brief (fingers crossed) delay on our journey, I have one suggestion to add your favorite resting activities that may bring you joy while you pass the time (i.e., hanging out with wonderful friends, watching funny shows, resting on a cozy couch with ample snacks).

How about we write a thank you note to God for all He has done to get us this far?

Sometimes, we forget how far we have come because we are always focused on where we are going.

But man, when you think of where we started, dang, we have traveled far thanks to God's guidance, strength, and amazing sense of direction.

As you rest, let your heart be filled with gratitude for the goals that have been accomplished, the problems that have been resolved, and the prayers that God answered.

I'm getting emotional over here just thinking about thankful I am to God for all the wonderful parts of our journey so far.

Enjoy the layover, my travel buddy.

Use the time wisely because before you know it, we'll be following forward once again!

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Psalm 4:8

In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 28: 6-7

Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
