Something

Hey you, yeah you.

I know you are facing a lot right now.

Most mornings, you start the day by pulling out your worries from your overthinking mind and lay them out in one big, overwhelming, heap.

Looking at everything coagulated together makes you feel frozen and unable to move into action.

I found myself doing that today as hours fled by with little to no productivity.

Is it just me?

Based on my text exchanges with fellow heapers, I think not.

How about we not do that?

How about, instead, we choose one small thing from the heap that we can affect?

Pull that one out and think of something you can do.

One thing that is in your control to do, not something someone else should do.

One thing that you can positively affect.

We can’t do all the things - but we can do just one something.

Okay, let's try that.

Nice work.

Now, pick one more.

Not all the things -just one something.

Nice work.

Looking back at all we have overcome in our past, it wasn't all done simultaneously.

Wouldn't that have been wild?

On the contrary, it took small steps, tries, and failures to get us where we are today.

So don't let the desire to heap creep in.

Ask God to show you one small step forward for one thing today.

Not all the things -just one something.

Nice work.

That heap is looking smaller already!

Proverbs 17:24

A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

Luke 10: 41-42

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Proverbs 4:25

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
