Sunday Supplications

My words feel fumbled and rambled today as my heart is heavy for so many hurting in our world right now.

There is so much focus on fear, unrest, and anger around us, and while we are hoping and trusting in God and trying to do our best within our sphere of influence to do what we can to be the good we want to see in the world, we still feel scared and worried.

Along with that, I know so many who are suffering from health concerns and the loss of loved ones.

I see you, and I am with you.

With all that in mind, please join me today in our supplications, urgent prayers, and laments to God as our guide and comforter.

Dear Lord,

The enemy of our united souls is on the prowl and screams devastation, division, and destruction at us. We are weary.

Help us.

Help them.

Help us help them.

Help them help us.

Bring comfort to the grieving, the addicted, the sick, and the lonely. Bring healing, restoration, and connection to them. Help us care for them as we put our needs aside to give them the support and love they need.

We pray for the helpers who sacrifice themselves to care for others. Be with the caregivers, pastors, and comforters carrying many heavy burdens. Please help us to appreciate and care for them and not take them for granted.

We pray for the protectors who fight to keep us safe. Those who run or dive into danger risk their lives to care for strangers and often go unnoticed or unappreciated. Help us show them love and kindness. Protect and keep them safe so they may return home to their families. Give supernatural discernment to their leaders and guide their steps and decisions.

We pray for our leaders who hold authority. Especially those we disagree with. Yes, even them. We send them love and light. We pray for their bodies, hearts, souls, and minds. Lead them in the way they should go. We pray for your voice to speak loudly over the whispers of greed and ego. We pray that your spirit be over and in every discussion. Let truths be spoken in love and not hate. May angels fill rooms and bring miraculous moves of peace and healing.

Help those who have the incredible power of sharing information with us. We pray for those in media and journalism to communicate from a place of honesty and wisdom, not greed, sensationalism, or fame. Help them to spread truth, light, and hope.

We pray for our enemies and forgive those who have hurt us. We ask for your blessings to be upon them. Disappate the anger we feel within as it does not come from you. Remove the darkness that lies within us. Help us to forgive and love others the way you love and forgive us.

My prayers and hopes feel childish, naive, and sometimes impossible. But God, with you, all things are possible.

Help us seek hope. Could you show us the way?

Please help us to be open to your voice and your truth.

Help us lead by example and use our words and actions to bring light and peace into our world by filling our hearts with forgiveness, understanding, and selflessness.

Thank you for hearing us and never leaving us. Thank you for all the times you have saved us, guided us, and lifted our heads.

You are so good, God. You are. Help us to see and be the good you have demonstrated through Jesus.

Let your peace be within us, and let that peace seep out in all we do.

We love you and lean on you now and always.

If we ever needed you, Lord, it's now.

Amen.

Matthew 11: 28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Psalm 119: 105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
