Expiate

I bet you didn't know this, but we are in constant need of expiation.

To be expiated is to make amends for or to extinguish something.

And, if you're anything like me, you have some sins that could use some atonement and extinguishing.

And we certainly need that atonement and extinguishment more than once.

Wouldn't it be great if we could accept the truth that Jesus died for our sins, wiping the slate of our souls clean, and then promptly move on in our cleansed redemption, never to sin again?

Maybe it's just me, but that isn't too likely.

I've probably sinned a few times just sitting here writing this.

Luckily, I just have to stop, be honest with myself, ask God to forgive and redirect me, and remind myself of the gift of expiation that Jesus offers.

No need for drawn-out self-loathing and overthinking.

Jesus loves our repentant hearts and embraces us without question.

How amazing is that?

Seriously.

Over and over, we sin, we repent, we begin again.

And there's Jesus. Open arms, just happy we are with Him.

From His perspective, the sacrifice He made for our expiation was worth it knowing we are back in His arms, safe and sound.

Jesus atoned for our sins, and we reap the benefits of the joy of redemption.

So don't you wallow in loathing or regret for one minute more.

Confess, repent, and accept the expiation.

And then let's move on; there's much to be done as we move forward on our journey together.

Onward and upward my expiated fellow traveler!

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Isaiah 43:25

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake and remembers your sins no more.

Acts 3:19

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
