For You
We have heard the story of Jesus' birth countless times.
We've read the scriptures, heard the stories, watched the movies, and sang the songs.
Has it all become white noise?
Have we become desensitized to the powerful, prophesy-fulfilling, life-changing truth of Jesus' birth?
Has Jesus been reduced to a small part of the story of the Christmas season's hoopla?
We squish Jesus somewhere between Santa, elves, presents, and cookies and take for granted what His birth means for us.
Eek. Guilty as charged.
Pause. Restart.
For unto us, a child is given.
For us.
Behold.
Imagine you are face to face with Jesus.
Imagine His hands with those cute baby dimples, His nose, His curly hair, and His eyes, looking into yours with love so deep that you can feel it in the depths of your soul.
God's son.
Sent unto you.
Sent for His beloved - you.
Your Savior.
The one who loves you without expectation.
The one who's purpose was to come and save the lost, lonely, and hurting - you.
The one who took on the punishment for your mistakes.
The one who never stops loving you.
The one who will someday welcome you home into a glorious eternity.
Behold.
Be amazed.
Be thankful.
Be humbled.
Be held.
And now that you have been reminded of the truth of who Jesus is and what He was sent to do, what will you do?
You have two choices.
You can retreat and turn away, convincing yourself it's just a story for children and fools.
Or
You can let the awe of what you know to be true and follow God to love Him and allow Him to guide you and fulfill His plans for your life.
Either way, Jesus was sent unto you.
That fact remains no matter what we do.
The days of following a star and visiting a manger are long gone.
But we can still behold the majesty of Jesus and who He is for us.
Behold, Jesus has come for you,
For you.
Rejoice beloved, and be glad.
Luke 2: 10
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people."
Philippians 4: 4
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Romans 8: 38-39
For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
