Show Me!
There is something so beautiful about the seasons of suffering in our lives.
In our weakness, God is our strength.
In our fear, God is our hope.
In our terror, God is our blessed assurance.
In our helplessness, God is our rescue.
In our temptation, God is our protector.
In our grief, God is our comforter.
In our bewilderment and disorientation, God is our wisdom and clarity.
Suffering highlights the undeniable truth of our utter desperation for God.
The wonderful thing, the good news of Christmas, is that God sent Jesus to dwell amongst us.
Immanuel - God with us.
It wasn't just back then for a people long forgotten.
God is with us still and dwells among us.
Today
Always
Forever
Unending
Unconditional
Oh, how blessed we are as His beloved children to know that we have Him to hold onto at all times.
But the truth is, even on our beloved path, we sometimes forget that God is accessible, willing, and able to provide the light in the darkness we desperately need.
We are forgetful little stinkers, are we not?
If you find yourself in the darkness that suffering can bring and have fallen back to the patterns of listening to lies and fear as you try to escape or hide, feel free to scream this out at the top of your lungs:
SHOW ME!
Ask God to show Himself in the situation you are facing.
Ask God to help you to see the light in the darkness.
Ask God to help you see the situation as He sees it.
Ask God to show Himself to you in what you are facing, beloved,
God loves you with a deep and powerful love that dwells among you and within you like a living thing.
What a beautiful gift we have been given.
Show yourself to your beloved today, God!
Matthew 1: 22-23
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
"The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means "God with us")."
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1: 4-5
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
