Wonderer
Have you ever wondered?
I'm not talking about wondering what you might have for breakfast (although waffles sound great).
I'm talking about wonder - a deep awe and astonishment at the miracles of life all around you.
The sun, the moon, the planets, the stars, all in perfect unison in a grand scheme of things far beyond my comprehension.
Here we are. Spinning in the universe stuck on a giant ball and somehow not falling off.
Hurts my head to think about it.
Seasons change, nature rests, and then bursts to life in response to the natural order their creator intended.
Creatures live and evolve to adapt to the changes they face.
I am in awe of God's creative and scientific geniusness (yeah, I know it's not a word, but it fits).
Every day, we learn a bit more and grow more aware of the fragility and beauty surrounding us.
And how about thinking of the millions of things happening in your body that allowed you to wake up, read, and understand these words? I can't even grasp everything that has to happen for us to stay alive, let alone be able to communicate and function.
It is a miraculous wonder to contemplate.
And then you have all the technology. It's astonishing how I can send you 20 pictures on my phone, and you get them in moments. And how about being able to simply type the most random question in a search bar and find information about anything in seconds? Heck, I still don't get how a fax machine works.
It all blows my mind.
This marvelous world around us is a wonder to behold.
Culture is screaming at us right now that the world and those living in it are broken beyond repair.
But I don't believe it.
I see a spectacular world filled with lovely people on their own journeys, trying to do their best in this life so they can experience joy, love, and kindness.
We should cling to the innocence and wonder of a child who marvels at the simplest things.
But we get busy and take things for granted as we age.
But let's go back to that innocence today and look at everything as if we were seeing it for the first time and appreciate the wonder of the miracles around us.
How about we feel such gratitude and joy for all the things we get to experience?
I see people caring for each other and helping those who need help. I see people fighting for the weak, finding the lost, and speaking up for the powerless.
I am in awe of all those who hear God's call to look beyond themselves and love others the way Jesus first loved them.
I wonder at the mercy of God and how He never gives up on helping us help ourselves and others.
I am overcome with gratitude and love for my family and friends and am in awe of all the amazing people in my life.
I look outside my window on this brisk day as the frost is lifting from the warm sunshine. I see birds flying and squirrels scurrying. I hear dogs barking and children laughing. I feel the sun's heat as it melts the frost from the ground. I open my window and smell the crisp fall air.
It's a gorgeous day out there.
And I think to myself, what a wonder-full world.
So, let's get out there, enjoy, and be wonder-er our way through this lovely day!
Thank You, God, for this beautiful life you have given us.
Isaiah 40:28
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
Psalm 65: 5-8
You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.
The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
Psalm 139: 13-14
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
