Worthy Ally

It's time for a truce.

You have been your own worst enemy long enough.

How long are you going to continue to wage this war within and beat yourself up?

How long are you going to talk to yourself this way?

Shouldn’t we be past this since all the lies we believed were canceled by the truth that God has told us?

After all, we have spent months together reminding ourselves of the truths that we are:

Enough

Loved

Forgiven

Wanted

Found

Repurposed

Free

And yet.

We continue beating ourselves up like an enemy instead of a friend.

We keep reminding ourselves of our mistakes, shortcomings, and failures.

We limit our thinking by shrinking and hiding, afraid of the world around us.

We tell ourselves we aren't good enough (especially compared to them) and are not worthy of a wonderful life.

Etc. etc.

All lies and relentless taunting from the pit of hell.

The enemy has captured us, and the enemy is us.

Yeah, us.

I mean, sure, the devil is the one who started all this nonsense in the first place, but Jesus got rid of him a long time ago.

Unfortunately, we let that little jerk's voice fester within us and have become our worst enemy.

We are imprisoned within our minds, holding ourselves captive with continual beatings and shaming.

How's that going?

Not so great, believe me, I know.

Talking kindly to ourselves is more difficult than one would think.

If we want to live our lives with purpose and joy, we must stop this enemy thinking once and for all.

To truly live, we must become our most worthy ally by defending, rescuing, and loving the deepest, darkest part of us.

The good news is we are not alone.

We have many allies surrounding us.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all around us, ready and willing to help us be victorious.

So put down your weapons and start speaking to yourself with all the love and kindness you can muster.

Accept and receive God's forgiveness and acceptance, and then, for the love of God (literally), forgive and accept yourself and move forward.

Build a habit of allyship within you and fight the injustice of critic, judge and jury within.

Replace those negative, nasty thoughts with understanding, love, forgiveness, and mercy.

It’s not easy, but with all of your powerful allies (including YOU) I know you can do this!

Peace be with you, my precious friend.

Psalm 54:4

Surely, God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].
