Enjoy The Day
As I write this morning, the sun is peeking through the sheer curtains of my window, blinding me with its warm light. The birds are singing and communicating their plans for the day, and my flowers are glistening from the morning dew. It's just a gosh darn glorious spring morning.
If I had my druthers, and believe me, sometimes I do, I would go outside and sing a little song and skip around in my exquisite, oversized, and well-worn terrycloth bathrobe.
But alas, such frivolity will have to wait for another day.
While nature is up and at it, ready to begin again to survive, thrive, grow, and blossom, many of us are at a standstill.
Going out to seize the beautiful spring day feels pretty annoying if we are being honest.
So much has been happening lately, and we are worn out. We want to close the curtains, find the fuzziest blankies, get plates of carbs and cookies, and get back in bed.
Our mind continues to rattle:
How will all of this work out?
Why is this all happening at once?
What is the purpose of all of this?
Alright. Alright. That's enough now.
It's time to enter into the unknown and seize the day, one step at a time.
Laying around and thinking ain't doing anything for us.
Sure, there are times for rest and recharging, but I think we are starting to atrophy a little bit.
So come on, let's get dressed (I mean, no one really wants to see us in our robes, right?) and get out there.
God is making a way forward.
The path is unfolding.
I see Jesus up there, His arm outstretched as He reaches back for us. We run forward and catch up, skipping happily, singing songs of praise and joy,, hand in hand with our Savior.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are glistening.
And we are surviving, thriving, growing, and blossoming.
Don't worry about the purpose of it all, what will happen next, or even where you are going on this journey forward.
Just enjoy the day, my friend.
Because, gosh, it is just so darn gorgeous.
Just like YOU!
Mark 8:34
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
