Enough is Enough
We've all reached that point when we can't take it anymore.
Whether it's what we are doing to ourselves or what someone else is doing to us, we can no longer tolerate it and have realized that something must change.
At these crossroads, we know we want it to stop happening, but what if we become very clear about what we want to start happening?
We teach people how to treat us. Ourselves included.
Whoa. Deep thought, right?
Clearly, we may have to raise the bar.
What are the expectations for yourself and others in the situation?
Write them down.
Spend time envisioning the best way this situation could play out and what you will and will not tolerate.
Most importantly, spend time with God as you work through this.
Imagine you are with your best friend, a fantastic listener and encourager.
Share every detail of what's happening - your fears, anger, and hopes.
Ask God to show you how you can see this situation through His eyes and how He would handle it.
It may sound odd, but it might give you a different perspective.
God can and will give you the grace and strength to handle this.
When enough is enough, remember, dear one, that you deserve to be treated well - by yourself and others.
Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Psalms 144:2
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
Psalm 16: 5-9
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure.
