Peace Within
When we receive messages as young children that we are not wanted or loved, a storm begins to form within our tiny hearts.
The blustery winds of lies blow through our minds, and we begin to believe that we are unlovable and unwanted.
These lies capsize us, and we cannot see or hear the truth of our preciousness beyond the waves that overtake us.
As the years progress, the chaos continues.
We grow into adults who continue to believe the lies that we are unnecessary and not worthy of being treated with love, care, and respect.
Even though we don't believe we deserve it, we still desperately seek that love and connection; it is in our human nature to do so.
With this storm still raging within, our desperate seeking often leads us to mistreatment and poor choices, and the chaos continues as we gravitate toward people and situations that are not good for us.
Somehow, these dramatic storms feel normal to us.
Storm chasing is an exhausting, dangerous, and agonizing way to live.
Enough!
The God of Peace is ready to calm the storms and rescue His children.
Reach up, weary chaser; God is here to scoop us out of that raging storm and hold us gently in His arms as He dries us off and heals our hurts.
He will soothe us just like a loving father would, rocking us gently as He whispers the truths of how loved we are, how we are wanted just as we are, and how all is forgiven.
When these truths envelop our very being, the storms inside quiet.
There is peace within us.
We could get used to this!
As we rest in God's arms, He will tell us about our future and guide us to find healthy, whole relationships that will serve us well.
Peace is our future. Anything other than that is simply unacceptable.
Those storms within may try to rise again, but we know better now.
We repeat the words God told us, and we remind those lying, bustling buggers beckoning us to chase another storm that they aren't going to fall for that nonsense again.
We are rescued children of God, and we are safe and protected in the peace and calm of His love.
Peace be with you. And also with you. And you. And you. And you.....
Psalm 107:29
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Luke 8:24
The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.
Zepheniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.
