Recovered

I know the journey forward can be difficult.

Sometimes, it feels like we take two steps forward and two steps back. We work up a sweat, but wonder, are we really moving ahead at all?

We have learned a lot and are working through so much, and I know it's no fun when we know better but don't do better.

When we slip and fall, we are so darn hard on ourselves, aren't we?

Here's some loving encouragement for us today.

No matter how often we fall back or cha-cha in place, God never gives up on us.

Our recovery requires a lot of faith, patience, practice, and determination to fight the temptation to fall back into our old beliefs, habits, and patterns.

But have no fear; God is an expert in the recovery business.

I love some of the definitions of the word recover:

  • to get back

  • to make up for

  • to bring back to normal condition

  • to regain consciousness

  • to get back something that was lost

  • to cover again or anew

God is on a mission to recover us every day.

Even we slip and fall.

Even when we run from Him and fight to be rescued.

Even when we actively rebel against our recovery and sit in our mucky funk, arms crossed in self-sabotage defiance.

God is ready to cover us and begin again, no matter how long it takes.

His love protects and restores us; we are recovered and can keep going one step at a time.

God is guiding us to find the truth lost in the lies we believed and regain consciousness of our originality - our unique, spectacular, unconditionally loved, God-created design.

So get up, my cutie cha-cha patootie; let's get back to it, shall we?

1...2..3...cha-cha...

And on we go!

Psalms 36:7

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

Romans 7:15

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

Deuteronomy 31:8

It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you. H will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Romans 6:14

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
