Reinforcements
I've seen too many movies with ridiculously long and violent battle scenes where the good guys are just about to be defeated when some other dudes from far away finally arrive at the very last minute with flags waving and trumpets blaring to join in the fight and save the day.
I'm always like - didn't they know when the battle was starting?
Didn't they see the smoke and hear all the commotion?
Was there traffic?
Why did it take them so long to get there?
Since most of these silly films take place way back in the day, we can't blame lousy cell service or GPS issues.
Could it have been that the good guys said, "No, it's fine, we don't need any help. We're fine. We can do this on our own."
Perhaps their pride got the best of them and prevented them from being honest about needing help.
Or maybe the other dudes were like, "Hey, we aren't sticking our nose where it doesn't belong. This sounds like a you problem."
That was until they realized that a you problem is an us problem.
We may not live in medieval times, enduring endless wars on muddy fields with greasy hair whilst wearing heavy armor, but the need for reinforcements and help in our battles remains.
If you are not fine, don't say you are. Surround yourself with reinforcements you can trust and rely on who will be there when you need them most.
You only hurt yourself in the long run, trying to do it alone. Pray for help, let those God-sent reinforcements in, and allow them to love, protect, and care for you when you need it most.
Helping people helps people, including you.
If you see someone in need and God nudges you to help, don't turn away. Don't wait for a smoke signal or cry for help. Knock on the door, get in the muck, and think about what you would need if you were in their shoes.
Helping people helps people, including you.
Don't wait till the bitter end to make and take the call for reinforcements.
We need all the help we can get!
God is with us always and forever.
Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
1 John 3:16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
