Co-Create
If there is one thing the past few years have taught me, it's that I am a tried and true extrovert.
Give me a room full of friends (or strangers I can befriend in moments), and I am happy girl.
Being alone for too long makes me cranky and sad and also provides me too much time to spend with the voices in my head who, quite frankly, are not always the best company.
The more time I spend hanging out with others, the better I feel.
And yet.
This season of my life is calling for a lot of quiet work. Deep thinking and intense healing are usually solo adventures and are not great party themes for a game night with friends.
So, I've been spending much more time alone lately than I typically prefer.
I tell you all this riveting information in the hopes that if this resonates with you, a piece of knowledge that dropped on me the other day might prove as insightful for you as it did for me.
I was sitting alone, trying to motivate myself to create something inspirational for the day.
The house was quiet, and no one was home except my dog, peacefully snoring away.
I started to feel itchy - if that makes sense.
I wanted to phone a friend and brainstorm.
I think better collaboratively and love brainstorming creative ideas and playing off other people's energy so I can rationalize a good play date as productive preparation.
While a wonderful opportunity to connect, these outreaches often serve as a distraction or misdirection in the way God intended me to go.
So, on that particular day, rather than give in to my desire to distract or seek direction from others, I stayed quiet and let God communicate and co-create with me.
And what came out was something so inspirational and beautiful!
Staying quiet and being comfortable in solitude with God co-creating at our side is a precious privilege.
God's plans for our lives are kept safe in the quietest parts of our souls, and what a gift it is to listen in and discover all that God has prepared for us.
So, if like me, you love it loud and busy, give yourself a few moments a day to get quiet and listen in.
You never know what God wants to create with you!
I bet it's gonna be awesome!
God is with us always and forever.
John 10: 27-28
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Jeremiah 33: 2-3
Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
1 Kings 19: 11-13
And he said, "Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
