Serenity Now
Okay, I think my new favorite word might be serenity. The definition is pretty dreamy: a state of utter calm and unruffled repose or quietude.
I don't know about you, but I could go for some unruffled rest-filled quietude-ness.
This world we live in seems to keep us in a constant state of agitation and anxiety.
We want to long for the good old days, but we've come to learn that they weren't all that good.
We long for a brighter tomorrow only to have the media bury us in lousy news while we struggle with the problems of day-to-day life.
Serenity Now!
Let's ease it up a bit today, shall we?
Serenity is available to us when we choose gratitude for who God is.
I'm not saying we close the curtains, become one with our couches, and hide from the world (although that might sound lovely).
But what if we turn off the noise and the worry-filled what-if-ng and ask God to show us who He is in these moments of full-blown, ruffled racket and unrest?
God is peace and calm in the storm
God is calm and wise in the uncertainty
God is light and easy in the hard and difficult times
God is good, all the time
God is
We can find serenity when we remember that God is our source of truth and that with Him, all things are possible.
Our hearts fill with gratitude as we remember that truth.
Let the serenity of that certainty soak in today, and let it revitalize you to survive, thrive, and do what God has called you to do to make this world a better place.
And now, these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:3).
Thank You, God, for this beautiful life you have given us.
Philippians 4: 6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
John 14:7
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Matthew 11: 28-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
