Super Suit
The Bible astounds me with its timeless applicability.
Even though it was written thousands of years ago, sometimes I swear it refers to the times we are living in today.
The devil is relentless and consistent in his attacks; we are stubborn, selfish, and have bad memories.
It makes me sad to think that we don't seem to learn the lessons God has been trying to teach us to live our best lives.
I must remind myself daily - if not minute by minute - to stay alert and watchful against the schemes that try to come against me.
Thank goodness I am not alone in my defenses against the things that try to tear me down (myself included).
There have been times I have felt l so exposed and vulnerable and cried out to God, wondering why He isn't protecting me. Then, I look at the scriptures below and remind myself that there are tools at the ready that I can use when tough times arise.
God has our super suit prepared and ready for us to use when needed.
This suit is not just fashionable and breathable - it's also extremely powerful and indestructible.
Some of the functionalities of the suit include:
The belt of truth - With this around your waist, you have wisdom and discernment. There is no fooling you when you have this on. This includes telling yourself stories to rationalize doing things you know do not serve you.
The breastplate of righteousness - This helps us act with justice, kindness, and truth. When we have this on, we are no longer prone to gossip, slander, or fake storytelling that divides or confuses us.
Readiness footwear - These shoes will keep you grounded in the gospel of peace and ready to go where God calls you. You will not run into dissension and disagreements; you will walk with peace, harmony, and understanding.
Shield of faith- You are enveloped by belief and trust in God. You know God is with you, and you receive and believe that God is in control, His light and love will endure, and everything will be okay.
Helmet of salvation - This protects your mind from wandering and worrying, keeping you calm and centered in the truth that God loves you, Jesus saved you, and you are never alone. It also protects your ears from hearing the lies of the enemy that tell you you are worthless and defenseless. Your senses are entirely focused on what God says.
Sword of the Spirit - This sword has God's word engraved with powerful scriptures that will help you fight the battles you encounter. God's word has power and can strengthen you against any offense.
You can put this suit on any time you need it. It is appropriate for any occasion.
This suit is God's power, always activated and surrounding you.
Try it on! It fits you perfectly! You are looking powerful!
God is with us always and forever.
Ephesians 6: 10-17
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Isaiah 59:21
