Tear ‘Em Down

We really should consider getting into the construction business.

We've built some pretty strong walls around us over the years.

There was a time when our walls protected us, that's for sure.

We had to build them to survive.

We became master craftsmen, and whenever anyone gave us the slightest indication that they were not to be trusted, we pulled out our tool belts and started building.

It made sense back then. We had to protect ourselves.

Our walls kept us safe.

But in our effort to keep out the bad guys and avoid getting hurt, we also kept out the good guys.

We've learned a lot on our journey together.

We are wiser and stronger, and we don't hide anymore.

God has given us the gift of discernment. The Holy Spirit lives within our instincts, and we are much better at knowing who we can and cannot trust.

I know it's hard to let those defenses down when they served us well all those years.

We've tried to let our guard down and may not have listened to that inner wisdom, or we got duped by a sneaky jerky face.

When that happened, we figured it was easier to shut everyone out and crawl within our bunkers where no one could hurt us.

And sometimes, we honestly had to do that.

Talk to the hand people, cuz we ain't listening.

But we can't stay shut down and locked up in there forever.

It's dark and dingy, and the food we stocked up for our hunkering down has expired.

We are God's protected, powerful children, and we teach people how to treat us.

We don't have to hide anymore.

Tearing down our walls lets the love and light in that we need to survive and thrive.

It's time to tear down some of those walls and let the love and light in.

We are going to be okay. We are safe. We are not alone.

God is with us always and forever.

Philippians 1: 9-11

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Proverbs 2: 10-14

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
