Protectors

Protectors are all around us.

Caring for the discarded and hopeless.

Speaking for those who have no voice.

Advocating for the helpless.

Loving the lost and lonely.

Fighting for the powerless.

Helping those who cannot help themselves.

Rescuing the endangered.

God calls these protectors to serve, and it astounds me that they put aside their own needs and desires to say yes to that call.

So many of us, including myself, focus most of our time thinking about ourselves.

But the protectors God calls put the needs of others before themselves and step up to do whatever it takes to help others.

God's chosen, selfless protectors are the true heroes of our time.

I am utterly in awe of those who defend and risk their lives to protect and care for others.

Today, of all days, I am overcome by emotion for those who choose to run into danger and lose their lives trying to save others.

Many have chosen the life of a projector because they have taken their own journey from the ashes and refuse to leave others behind.

They could have just done what they wanted and lived happy, carefree lives, but they put their needs aside to serve and fight.

Thank you, God, for calling our protectors.

Thank you, protectors, for answering that call and saying yes.

If you are being called, please don't ignore God's request.

We need you - God's chosen protectors - now more than ever.

Please join me in praying for all the protectors of our world, here with us and gone but never forgotten.

God, please watch over all those who watch over us.

God is with them, always and forever.

Psalm 82: 3-4

Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Isaiah 6:8

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

John 15: 12-13

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
