Uncover

When you were were a little kiddo, your light was bright, and you were just you.

You danced through your world, learning and growing, feeling safe just to be yourself and enjoy everything around you.

You were unfiltered, unrestricted, and delighted to shine bright, just as a kiddo should be.

But then came pain, rejection, abandonment, and disappointment.

Every so slowly, your light dimmed.

Your survival instincts kicked in, and you began to filter, perform, and morph into a version of yourself that could withstand the world around you.

You tried to protect yourself in any way you could:

  • You transformed into various personalities so people wouldn't hurt or reject you.

  • You numbed yourself with food, alcohol, drugs, shopping, sex -whatever you could find to take the hurt away.

  • You isolated and pushed all the pain way down in the crevices where no one could find them.

After a while, you didn't even recognize yourself anymore. Where did that little kiddo go that was shining so brightly?

That little kiddo is still within you, longing to be free and to get out there to dance and delight in the world again.

On this journey together, we are peeling back the layers and allowing God to heal the wounds and dispel the lies that kept us trapped and stuck in the muck.

I see you there! Come on out, it must have been hot under all those covers.

We can breathe again; doesn't it feel great?

No more hiding or covering up. It's time to step out into the light and be free.

You have such a bright light within you, kiddo. You are such a cutie!

God has found you, and He is never, EVER going to let you go.

Psalm 57:1

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge.

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

John 8:12

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 5: 14-16

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
