Worth a Try
It's fun to visualize our dreams, make vision boards, and think positive thoughts to manifest our future awesomeness.
Thinking, wishing, and hoping are worthwhile, but without a good try, they don't get us very far.
Dreams must have plans; plans must have actions; actions must have tries, and tries must have failures.
That last part is what trips us up.
We look at other people and only see the shiny part of the end result. We don't know the blood, sweat, and tears that got them to the good part.
Most people don't promote the confusing stops and starts, uncertainties, or tries and fails endured before they finally get to the happy ending.
We are impatient and a tad entitled - we want to hurry up and get to the good stuff without risking or doing too much.
Excess effort and fear of failure or rejection can be real journey-stoppers.
So we plop our whiny butts down, draw pictures and criticize others who are making an effort and trying while we stay stuck, complaining and remaining.
That is not a worthwhile use of the precious and fleeting time God gave us.
So, let's get off our tushies and start making some moves.
What's one thing you could do about that dream today?
What's what thing you could try?
Just one.
And then another.
And then some more.
And before you know it, we are miles ahead.
I know it can feel scary to go into the unknown and run the risk of trying and failing.
But what if we do it and accomplish the dreams that have been dormant within us for SO long?
What if those pictures in your mind or on your wall become a reality?
Can you imagine it?
Can you envision you and I jumping up and down and yelling, "WE DID IT!" as we hold hands and run in circles like wild and crazy people?
We'd be so busy having fun and DOING the stuff we don't have time to think or overthink.
Isn't that worth a try?
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
2 Peter 1: 5-8
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3: 23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
