Enough Patience
According to a definition I just read, patience is the ability to bear any provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain without complaint, loss of temper, or irritation.
Yikes. I had to reread that a couple of times.
If, like me, you have responded to said provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain by complaining, losing your temper, or being irritated, take heart; you are not alone.
It is SO hard not to overthink, over-respond, overreact, or over-fix. We are incessantly impatient as we cram our way into finding the solution.
Often, in our hurried approach to getting to the finish line of our funk, our inpatient reactions cause more harm than good.
Take a deep breath with me, would you? One more. OK, just one more.
Whatever you are facing, patience may be the way to peace as you wait for the right response or solution.
For today, imagine God shielding and helping you hold your tongue and calm your thoughts.
All will be well, my friend. It really will.
Just hold on for a little bit longer; the answer is coming.
The knots are untying.
It is going to be OK. Allow yourself to receive that truth.
You can do this.
Proverbs 19:11
A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense.
Ecclesiastes 7:8
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Psalm 37:7
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked schemes.
