Enough Pleasing

Your career as a contortionist must come to an end.

You cannot continue to twist yourself into knots, trying to please everyone.

When you were young, you sensed things were not functioning correctly, so you took it upon yourself to ensure everyone was happy and peaceful.

Even if it meant you were not.

  • If there was tension, you lightened the mood.

  • If there was anger, you did whatever was necessary to make peace.

  • If there was frustration, you accommodated to make others happy.

  • If there was disapproval, you changed course to please them.

The truth is that what you do will never be enough to make everything perfect and everyone around you happy. It is a false trail.

What you desire cannot come from outside of you, it can only come from within.

God's unconditional love and mercy can help you break these habits that no longer serve you.

As you form a new pathway to peace, you can stand in the funky tension of honoring God and yourself despite how your choices may affect those around you.

The right people will love you, respect and you and stand with you. You can act in loving kindness AND do the right thing for you.

Let God be your checkpoint as you move forward on this new, pleasing-free path.

Pleasing Him and honoring yourself can bring you more than enough of what you seek.

Galatians 1:10

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Proverbs 29:25

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
