Love is Kind

If you wake up today and find your mind churning out a litany of things wrong with you, your job, your family, the government, and basically the world in general, pause for just a moment.

Give yourself a break.

Give them a break.

Let's stop the critiquing and catty criticism and instead choose to infuse loving-kindness.

  • Rather than focus on the icky parts, can you think of how much God loves you and the kindness he has shown you?

  • Can you walk away from gossip at work and think of ways to be kind to your coworkers instead?

  • Can you show your family extra love today by reaching out and encouraging them?

  • Can you send a note or bring treats to your local first responders or government officials to show your appreciation for their service?

  • Can you turn off the TV or social media, step out into the physical world, and show loving-kindness to a stranger?

  • Can you find ways to serve in your community or with a non-profit organization to help spread loving-kindness in the world around you?

We can saturate the world around us with loving-kindness.

Then, before we know it, we will start to find evidence that the world is indeed filled with decency, compassion, graciousness, generosity, sweetness, and love.

What we focus on is what we see.

Let's focus on seeing ourselves, others, and the world around us the way God does and give ourselves and others a break today, shall we?

God loves you, and so do I!

Proverbs 18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Ephesians 4:31

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Proverbs 16:24

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Psalm 143:8

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,

For in You do I trust;

Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,

For I lift up my soul to You.
