Love is Patient
Sometimes, the ones we love try our patience.
Maybe even more than sometimes.
What if love can give us the patience to withstand annoyances, pain, and difficulties?
Today, think of something someone you love recently did that tested your patience.
Well, that was easy, wasn't it?
Now, fill your mind with thoughts of how much you love that person. Think of all the fantastic qualities they possess. Think about how precious they are to you and so many. Remember how much they mean to you and how lost you would be without them.
Next, think about what they might be experiencing that caused them to act this way. Were they stressed? Were they sad? Were they scared?
Allow empathy to fill your thoughts as you hold them close in your heart and imagine them encapsulated in love.
Imagine God wrapping His arms around them, comforting them, forgiving them, encouraging them. Hear his voice telling them how much He loves them.
God's enduring love never grows weary or impatient.
This truth is so reassuring for us when trying our best to make our way in this life and we fail or make mistakes.
Let us try to give that same patient mercy to those we love.
God loves you, and so do I!
1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
