Watchful Eyes

There are times on this journey when escaping our mucky pit seems like an insurmountable task.

We try to climb out, but another attack comes, and boom, down we go.

If we are being honest, we are just too weak and tired to give it another go.

All we can see is the darkness surrounding us, and the walls filled with more problems and bad news feel like they are closing in.

At this point, all we can do is cry out and pray that God sees us and sends help.

In these moments, I like to think God enlists the help of eagles as part of His secret service team, soaring high above, looking at His children, and swooping down to rescue and save us when we need Him most.

God's watchful eyes never stop looking for us and protecting us.

As we cry out, light breaks through the darkness, and as we raise our heads and squint our eyes, we see the most majestic and beautiful eagle with enormous, magnificent wings approaching us.

The eagle flies down into our pit of despair and covers us in her wings. Gently, she pulls us up and out and places us safely on the soft ground above, nestled in her loving protection, which flows from God.

Here, we can rest.

Here, we are safe.

Here, we can see clearly and begin to gain wisdom and strength.

We stand up, shake ourselves off, and begin again.

The issues are still there, but we can manage them better now, feeling restored and rejuvenated in God's love.

The eagle flies up and up but never away.

We can always see her in the distance as God's watchful eyes protect us.

You are not and will never be alone. God sees you and hears you and will swoop down and rescue you.

God is with us, always and forever.

Psalm 91: 4-6

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings, you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

Deuteronomy 32: 10-11

He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of the wilderness;

he encircled him, he cared for him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on its pinions.

Isaiah 40: 28-31

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.
