Fortified In Forgiveness

You have been working hard on this path of forgiveness, my friend. I am so very proud of you.

I want to remind you today how much you are loved. You are precious to God, and He surrounds you with His tender grace and mercy as you see how forgiveness can free you from anger and bitterness.

You might still struggle with forgiving someone because you are afraid that if you do, they will hurt you again.

Forgiveness feels weak because we think we are letting our defenses down, leaving us vulnerable to another attack.

But what if forgiveness can actually strengthen our defenses?

The good news is that as we continue to receive God's absolute, unconditional, never-ending love for us, we realize we grow stronger as we have new rules and expectations on how people will treat us.

We can forgive them with the same grace and mercy God gave us, but that doesn't mean we need to allow them back into our lives. And that is okay.

We can release the guilty parties by offering forgiveness and still feel strong and secure, knowing God will keep us safe.

God's soldiers of protection are not armed with anger, hatred, and vengeance. They are powerful warriors filled with love, truth, mercy, and forgiveness.

We are fortified and protected by God’s defenses.

Nothing can get past them.

We can trust that forgiveness isn’t permission to hurt us again. God will protect us and give us discernment and strength to fortify our boundaries.

I know this isn’t easy stuff, but God is so proud of you for all that you have been working through.

Keep going my friend!

Remember that God loves you, and so do I!

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

1 Peter 5:8

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
